Layout

Field of view and range are the camera's published figures, and they decide everything on the map — so they are inputs, not assumptions. Staggered heights are what actually reduces occlusion; a single ring at one height gives every camera nearly the same view.

Performers are the occluders. A marker at chest height on one of them is blocked by the others, which is the whole reason two cameras is a floor and not a target. Marker height defaults to 3.6 ft — roughly a pelvis marker, the one most often lost in a crowd.

Performers move, so a single arrangement proves nothing. The map is the worst case across this many random arrangements of them inside the working area — raise it for a more pessimistic, slower map.

Result

Coverage is the share of the working area where at least the required number of cameras have an unblocked line of sight to a marker at the height above.
