This year at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) conference in Las Vegas, Form Volumes partnered with Nikon and MRMC to showcase the power and versatility of real-time virtual production through our All-In-One Studio (AIOS) system. The result? A booth that became a live demo stage for the next generation of content creation—seamless, efficient, and creatively limitless.
Two Activations. One Turnkey System.
Form Volumes provided and integrated two LED volumes inside the Nikon booth, both powered by our AIOS system. One activation was a stylized live cooking show built with Unreal Engine, demonstrating how broadcast studios can level up production without ever leaving the studio floor. With live camera switching enabled, the LED wall dynamically updated the virtual scene based on the active camera—delivering a smooth, real-time experience with no compositing needed.
The second activation was a cinematic commercial-style shoot featuring Steve Giralt and The Garage team. This demo combined Unreal Engine with Assimilate to enable image-based lighting (IBL)—allowing physical lighting on set to automatically replicate lighting from the digital environment. Paired with frame remapping, we were able to light and shoot multiple scenes with different moods at the same time. Thanks to AOTO’s RM1.5e panels running at 120Hz, we could film two distinct 60fps scenes simultaneously, unlocking a whole new level of creative flexibility.
The Technology Behind the Scenes
Both demos ran on our AIOS platform, a fully integrated system that simplifies virtual production without sacrificing creative or technical capabilities. For this activation, the AIOS system featured:
- AOTO RM1.5e LED panels (120Hz refresh rate for multi-scene support)
- Unreal Engine environments for both demos
- Assimilate for advanced lighting workflows in the commercial setup
- Puget Systems media servers for real-time rendering
- MRMC robotics fully integrated with AIOS and Unreal Engine
- Full tracking and FIZ data streaming through Live Link, allowing seamless motion capture and automation
Throughout the conference, visitors to the MRMC booth experienced firsthand how this cohesive system enables high-end virtual production in a streamlined footprint — a compelling option for studios, universities, and content creators looking to adapt to the evolving demands of modern storytelling.
As the industry continues to blur the lines between physical and digital production, Form Volumes remains committed to driving innovation and accessibility in the virtual production space.
A Collaborative Vision
We were honored to join forces with MRMC and Nikon, who share our passion for pushing the limits of what’s possible with robotics, camera systems, and production technology. The booth not only showcased what’s technically achievable—it showed how accessible these solutions can be when built with the right team.
