Introducing Volumate: The Easiest Way to Run a Virtual Production System
Most teams don’t have staff who live and breathe Unreal Engine. Volumate is a browser-based virtual production platform that makes LED wall operation simple, fast, and powerful — without specialized technical knowledge.
Virtual production technology has never been more accessible. LED volumes are showing up in university media programs, brand studios, and corporate production facilities at a pace we haven’t seen before. But after the hardware is installed and the system is commissioned, a common question follows: now what?
Most teams don’t have staff who live and breathe Unreal Engine. Most brands don’t have in-house virtual production workflows. And most universities are building programs around this technology, not hiring from them yet. The gap between owning a powerful system and actually using it confidently has been one of the biggest friction points in our industry.
That’s exactly why we built Volumate.
What Is Volumate?
Volumate is a browser-based virtual production platform designed to make LED wall operation simple, fast, and powerful without requiring specialized technical knowledge or external software installs. It handles the full lifecycle of a virtual production workflow: creating and sourcing media, reviewing it with your team, and displaying it on your LED wall or display with professional-grade controls.
Create Media Right Inside the Platform
One of Volumate’s most powerful capabilities is built-in content generation. You can generate photos, videos, 360 videos, and 360 driving plates directly in the app with no third-party tools or subscriptions required.
Volumate also supports Gaussian splat 3D scenes, which let you capture or generate a photorealistic environment you can actually navigate in real time. You can convert any photo into a 3D scene, whether it’s AI-generated or something you imported, or bring in Gaussian splats you captured yourself. It’s a fast path from a single image to a fully immersive environment ready for your LED wall.
Review With Your Team Before You Shoot
Getting sign-off on content before a shoot day used to mean emailing files, scheduling screen shares, or asking clients to install software. Volumate simplifies this completely.
You can create organized folders and generate shareable review links that work for anyone on your team or your client’s side with no account required on their end. Photos, videos, Gaussian splat scenes, and 360 video files are all supported. It’s a clean, professional review experience that keeps production moving.
Display and Control Media on Your LED Wall
When you’re ready to display content, Volumate gets you to a live output quickly. Web displays require zero software installation or configuration. Just open a browser on any internet-connected device and you’re in control.
From there you have intuitive controls to scale, position, and adjust color for any content. For 360 video, you can easily pan and tilt to dial in your angle. For Gaussian splat 3D scenes, built-in joystick controls let you navigate through the environment in real time.
Multi-Display Grouping
For studios operating multi-panel configurations, Volumate’s multi-display grouping is a genuine differentiator. You can assign individual web displays to your front, back, left, right, and top panels, each running on its own computer, and Volumate automatically maps 360 plates or 3D scenes across all of them with minimal configuration. No complex calibration. No custom software per machine. Just assign, load, and go.
Pro Features When You Need Them
For teams ready to go deeper, Volumate includes a local listener that caches media files for higher-performance playback, especially useful for larger video files.
The local listener also unlocks camera tracking and inner/outer frustum support. Volumate includes its own iPhone app using Apple’s ARKit for camera tracking right out of the box, making it a practical solution for brands and universities that don’t have dedicated tracking hardware. For facilities that do, Volumate supports FreeD protocol, giving you compatibility with a wide range of professional solutions.
The result is off-axis, perspective-correct viewing with setup that takes minutes rather than days and no external tools or plugins required. It’s a few clicks in the UI.
Control Everything From Any Device
Every control in Volumate lives in a web browser. That means you can operate your system from a laptop, tablet, or phone. Simple, intuitive, and always in reach.
See It Live at NAB 2025
If you’re heading to NAB, we’d love to show you Volumate in person. We’ll be driving the main LED wall at Unilumin’s booth at C7539, where you can see the full display experience running live. We’re also doing demos at the Puget Systems booth at N2571, so stop by either location and let us walk you through it.
Join the Waitlist
Volumate is now in soft launch and we’re approving accounts on a rolling basis. If you’re operating a virtual production system or planning to, and you want a smarter way to run it, we’d love to get you in.
