Motion Capture for
Humanoid Robot Training

Every humanoid robot needs to learn from human movement. We sell, install, and integrate the motion capture systems that robotics companies and research labs use for teleoperation, imitation learning, and sim-to-real training pipelines.

We carry OptiTrack, Vicon, Xsens, Rokoko, and Movin — the same systems being used by the leading humanoid robotics companies to collect demonstration data at scale.

How Motion Capture Trains Robots

Humanoid robots learn from human demonstrations. Motion capture is how you collect that data — accurately, repeatably, and at scale.

01

Teleoperation

A human operator wears a mocap suit and gloves. Their movements are mapped in real time onto the robot or its digital twin. The robot executes the task while all sensor data — joint angles, forces, camera feeds — is recorded. This produces paired datasets of human motion input and robot behavior output.

02

Imitation Learning

Thousands of recorded demonstrations train neural network policies. The robot learns to map observations (camera images, proprioception) to actions using techniques like Action Chunking Transformers, Diffusion Policy, and foundation models. More demonstrations = better performance, which is why scalable data collection matters.

03

Sim-to-Real Transfer

For locomotion, robots train in simulation using reinforcement learning with mocap reference motions from human walking, running, and climbing. The mocap data provides 'style targets' that produce natural gaits instead of awkward robotic shuffling. Trained policies then transfer to the physical robot.

Who We Work With

Whether you're a funded startup scaling data collection or a university lab setting up your first teleoperation rig.

Humanoid Robot Companies

Companies building humanoid or dexterous robots that need teleoperation and demonstration data collection infrastructure. From your first prototype rig to 50+ parallel data collection stations running 8 hours a day.

University Robotics Labs

Research labs at universities like Stanford, MIT, CMU, Georgia Tech, and others running teleoperation experiments, imitation learning research, and locomotion studies. We understand grant budgets and academic procurement.

AI Research Labs

Corporate and independent AI labs building foundation models for physical manipulation — collecting large-scale demonstration datasets that require consistent, reliable motion capture across thousands of hours of recording.

Defense & Government

Government labs and defense contractors developing autonomous systems that learn from human demonstrations. DARPA programs, Army Research Lab, NASA JPL, and national laboratory projects.

Systems We Sell & Integrate

We carry the same motion capture platforms being used by the world's leading robotics companies — and we handle installation, integration, and support.

OP

OptiTrack

Optical Marker-Based

Sub-millimeter accuracy with ultra-low latency. The PrimeX camera series is the price-to-performance leader in robotics labs. Motive software provides real-time streaming via NatNet SDK, integrating directly with ROS, custom middleware, and robot control stacks. The most widely deployed system in North American robotics labs.

Vicon

Optical Marker-Based

Gold-standard accuracy trusted by the most demanding research institutions and well-funded robotics companies. Vicon Tracker and Shogun software with DataStream SDK for real-time output. Particularly strong in biomechanics-crossover applications and European research labs.

Xsens (Movella)

Inertial / Wearable

Full-body IMU suits that work anywhere — no cameras, no line-of-sight requirements. Ideal for teleoperation on factory floors, in real-world environments, or anywhere optical systems are impractical. MVN Animate streams real-time data to any receiver.

Rokoko

Inertial / Wearable

The most accessible entry point for mocap-based data collection. The Smartsuit Pro II and Smartgloves make it practical to equip multiple teleoperation stations at a fraction of the cost of optical systems. When you need to scale from 1 to 10+ collection rigs, Rokoko makes the economics work.

Compute & Infrastructure

Puget Systems

High-performance workstations for real-time mocap processing, robot control inference, and data pipeline management. We configure machines for your specific software stack — Motive, ROS, Isaac Sim, custom ML frameworks. Network infrastructure for low-latency data streaming between mocap, compute, and robot.

Hand & Finger Tracking

Precision Manipulation

Dexterous manipulation is where the hardest robotics problems live. We integrate finger tracking solutions — optical finger marker setups with OptiTrack/Vicon, Rokoko Smartgloves for inertial capture, or hybrid approaches combining both for maximum coverage.

Scaling Data Collection

Modern imitation learning is hungry for data. Going from a research prototype to production-scale training means going from one teleoperation rig to many — reliably.

Multi-Station Deployment

We design and deploy 10, 20, 50+ parallel teleoperation stations. Identical hardware configurations, centralized management, and consistent data quality across every rig. Scaling the hardware should be the easy part of scaling your data collection.

Production-Grade Reliability

Your data collection rigs need to run 8+ hours a day, every day. We build systems for sustained operation — proper cooling, cable management, redundant networking, and monitoring so you don't lose collection time to hardware issues.

Mixed-Modality Setups

Different tasks need different capture approaches. We design hybrid setups — OptiTrack for precision hand manipulation tasks, Xsens suits for whole-body teleoperation, and Rokoko for scaling up bulk data collection where absolute accuracy is less critical.

Real-Time Streaming Architecture

Motion capture data must stream to your robot control stack with minimal latency and zero drops. We configure networking, middleware, and data pipelines for reliable real-time delivery — NatNet, ROS, custom UDP, whatever your stack needs.

Capture Volume Design

We design the physical space — camera placement, coverage geometry, lighting conditions, and infrastructure — to ensure consistent tracking quality across the entire capture volume. Especially important when the robot is in the tracking area alongside the operator.

Ongoing Support & Maintenance

Calibration drifts, cameras need cleaning, software needs updating. We provide support contracts that keep your data collection infrastructure running at peak performance so your ML team can focus on training, not hardware debugging.

Why Buy Through an Integrator?

You can buy OptiTrack cameras or Xsens suits directly. So why work with us? Because the hardware is only part of the problem.

Getting a mocap system streaming reliably into your robot's control stack — with correct retargeting, sub-frame latency, and the ability to run 8 hours a day without dropping data — requires integration expertise. That's what we bring.

  • Lab design — camera placement, capture volume geometry, and infrastructure planning optimized for your robot and workspace
  • Integration with your stack — NatNet SDK, Vicon DataStream, Xsens SDK, ROS middleware, custom protocols
  • Retargeting guidance — mapping human mocap data onto your robot's kinematics with correct joint limits and proportions
  • Multi-system expertise — we help you choose the right technology for each task: optical for precision, inertial for scalability, hybrid for both
  • Scaling support — going from 1 rig to 50 without re-engineering your approach
  • One vendor for hardware + installation + support — no finger-pointing between the mocap company, the IT team, and the lab manager

Just Need the Hardware?

We Sell Individual Systems Too

Not every lab needs a full integration. If you just need OptiTrack cameras, Xsens suits, or Rokoko Smartgloves — we sell individual products and kits with expert guidance on compatibility and configuration. No minimum order.
